Driving Our Friend’s RWB Porsche in LA!

This is the kind of weekend trip that you don’t forget.

Two weeks ago, Paul and I flew from Vancouver down to Los Angeles with one mission in mind: to take our friend Sid’s RWB Porsche 997 on an epic drive through some of LA’s most iconic spots. With only about 36 hours to fit everything in, we knew we were in for a jam-packed couple of days.

We touched down at LAX at 12:31 AM on Saturday morning and our friend Colton (@soulfulmotoring) swung by to pick us up. Instead of finding a hotel, we decided to camp out in his SUV, parked up in Huntington Beach, ready to wake up early for Saturday’s festivities. Our first stop was Donut Derelicts, a legendary Saturday morning car meet where you can catch some of Southern California’s wildest hot rods and custom builds. It’s a true car enthusiast’s haven, and it didn’t disappoint.

Next up was K’s Speed, where we had the opportunity to see Nakai San himself putting the finishing touches on a fleet of RWB Porsches slated for SEMA. Watching Nakai San work his magic in person is always a pleasure —a master at work, sculpting each car with precision.

Then came the real highlight: Sid handed over the keys to his RWB Porsche 997, and we took it up Azusa Canyon for a sunset drive. Nothing quite compares to winding up those canyon roads in an RWB, with the sky turning orange and the city lights coming to life in the distance. As night fell, we made our way back into DTLA, where we spent a few hours capturing photos and filming.

Driving through downtown in an RWB under the glow of city lights was surreal—one of those cinematic moments you can only experience in a place like LA. By Sunday afternoon, we were already back at LAX, heading home to Vancouver.

It was an unbelievably quick trip but filled with the kind of memories you carry with you for a lifetime.
