New Wheels For EVERYBODY!

A bit of a shorter video this week; but a really fun one.

Dylan got the call from Reid that his SSR Jilbas were finally completed and he couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Fresh lips, refinished faces with a period-correct finish, a tidy ceramic coating and some brand-new center caps were the perfect recipe to complete these wheels. He loaded them up in the car to take them to Reid’s place to get some tires mounted; but first, we had a homie to help!

Our friend Tyler is a perfect example of how positive the kaido racer community is in the Pacific Northwest. He dove headfirst into building an X6 shortly after falling in love with shakotan styling following the first New Year Touring event hosted by Rudeboy Custom. He denounced his sinful past of Volkswagens and dedicated energy and effort to getting involved in the community we have here. Always lending a hand on people’s projects (like Rudeboy’s silhouette build this summer) or helping out with events (like our Pop-Up Shop), Tyler brings incredible positive energy to everything he does.

So when we heard that some thieves broke into his Cressida and stole parts, supplies and a box full of his nostalgic goodies, most of us in the local kaido racer community were gutted. We quickly started brainstorming a plan for something that we could do to help give back to a young guy who has really put his best foot forward these last few years.

Rudeboy offered up a pair of his Pro-Sus strut adaptors. This kit allows you to bolt an S13 or S14 front coilover into almost any Cressida or Celica chassis including X3, X6, X7, X8, A60, or any rear wheel drive Toyota car with a 1.75″ inner diameter strut tube. We reached out to our contact at Maxpeedingrods and asked if they would be interested in supplying some coilovers for the job. They jumped on the opportunity immediately and surprised us by offering up a set of their newly released T7 coilovers (which are more advanced than the ones we have run in Dylan’s Supra and our Cressida).

Like we’ve said in the past, we would not typically recommend these coilovers to somebody who is building a performance-orientated car, but for a kaido racer where the main objective is to be as low to the ground as possible, the combination of the Maxpeedingrods and the Rudeboy Prosus seems close to perfection.

The installation went smoothly and the initial test drive left Tyler stoked that his car was finally enjoyable to drive (it no longer resembled the experience of a bouncy castle for the road). After this, they moved on to getting Dylan’s tires mounted on the Jilbas and then getting the SSR MKIIIs that Reid borrowed fitted up correctly on the Laurel just in time for him to drive it up to Kelowna for Afterhours Night Show (which will be covered in our next video)!

We’ve got you covered if you want a setup like this for your low-style car.
