In lieu of a new weekly video, I’ve decided to share some 35mm film photos I took during my time in Japan. There are photos from two separate events, the Nostalgic Car Show in Nagano and a rainy Sunday morning at Daikoku PA. There are full videos from those days on our YouTube channel, but I felt like looking through some old pictures and reminiscing on some good memories. There is something about film photos that really transports me back to the moment that it was taken, so I’m excited to post these and hope you enjoy them too!

These photos are from the drive towards Nagano for the Nostalgic Car Show, we stopped for a coffee and ended up running into a group of kaido racers. I was already excited for the show, but meeting a bunch of old-school Nissans before even arriving was next-level.

The event itself was great, there were hundreds of old cars dressed up in all different styles. I found myself lucky enough to travel there with my friend Mr. Kanamori; we stopped for yakisoba in Yamanashi Prefecture on the way home and I got this awesome photo of his kaido racer Toyota Crown with Mt. Fuji in the background.

This was a Sunday morning meeting at Daikoku PA, I guess you could call it a “cars and coffee” (is that a thing in Japan?). I was really on the fence about going out that day because it was raining really hard but I already had the rental car booked for the day and figured I might as well, and it paid off. Super lucky for me because it was about 5 minutes after arriving that everyone started to pull into the parking area. There was a smaller turnout than most days, but that meant I had the chance to talk to people and get a closer look at all of the cars.
That’s all of the photos I have for now. Thank you for reading my article and letting me remember some core memories of my exchange semester. Next week’s video will be the finale of the Sandals in Japan series where I’ll be answering questions about moving to/living in Japan. If you have any related questions, please let me know!
