We started the week off with a visit to Mission Raceway where our friend Julian was drifting his S15. We thought this would be a great opportunity to check the track out for ourselves, as well as test out our new umbrellas.
Feeling inspired, we brought our beloved Cressida into the shop for some much needed repair. When we first lowered the car, I really had not anticipated what a challenge it would be to daily drive it. Long story short, while driving through a construction zone I had managed to hit a bump which bent the subframe and completely threw off the alignment. For months the car drove with the steering wheel off to the left which would shred through tires within 1,000km, enough was enough. We got a new subframe from another friend who was parting out a Cressida and sent it off to Rudeboy Custom to be raised about 25mm to avoid another catastrophic hit.
The process of removing the old subframe and installing the replacement wasn’t overly complicated, but it was probably one of the dirtiest jobs I’ve ever done to a car. This is mainly because the bottom of the car is covered with oil from a secret leak in the engine but thankfully Dylan did the majority of the work there. The hardest part was reaching the hidden engine mount bolts and getting everything aligned when installing the new subframe.
In the end, we got it finished in an evening and then spent the rest of the weekend scrubbing oil off of our hands/arms/entire body, and finishing up the rest of our to-do list. Then, Dylan and Alex paid a visit to Rudeboy where they put the finishing touches on Dylan’s Yamaha Jog scooter.
Overall, it was a highly productive weekend and we can’t wait for everything to really start coming together this summer!
